Job overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for a 12 month fixed term/secondment post as Ward Leader on Ward 25.

Ward 25 is the paediatric ward in the trust, providing high quality, safe care to children and young people aged 0-18 years with a variety of medical and surgical requirements.

Within the footprint of  Ward 25 are two Level 2 High Dependency beds and a Childrens Assessment Unit,  open Monday to Friday 2-10pm.

You will be expected to support the team to deliver and implement changes as required within these services and support the children, young people and their families.

The applicant will have excellent time management skills, be supportive and flexible and have leadership experience.

Knowledge Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills with clear written and oral skills
  • Proven management skills- effective organisation abilities, supervisory skills, leadership skills, change management skills
Desirable criteria
  • Presentation skills

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma or Degree in Children’s Nursing
  • Registered clinical professional
  • Qualification in teaching and assessing or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • Working towards Masters qualification or equivalent
  • Additional professional/management qualifications

Further Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of personal and professional development in clinical practice/ management
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma in management or relevant subject or willingness to undertake

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post registration experience, with experience in a senior position within the speciality
  • Experience of operating and communicating effectively with clinicians and Multi-disciplinary
  • Experience of operating and communicating effectively with clinicians and Multi-disciplinary
  • Experience of initiating, conducting and evaluating risk assessments and investigations
  • Experience of leading and managing staff
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working towards Care Quality Commission and NHS Resolution standards.
  • Complaints Management
  • Experience of service improvement methodologies
