Are you an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with a passion for procurement? King's Mill Hospital is seeking a dedicated Buyer to join our award-winning Procurement team.
As a Buyer, you will report to the Buying Team Manager and play a key role in delivering the Procurement workplan and financial improvement plans. Your responsibilities will include:

Knowledge Requirements
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of purchasing procedures and systems
- Knowledge, understanding and use of Word and Excel packages and other computerised purchasing systems
- Ability to work to strict deadlines
- Good interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Trust’s Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions
- Ability to analyse information and make judgements in relation to best value for money whilst meeting specification
- Ability to research and evaluate different products in order to make recommendations to customers
- The ability to work effectively on a wide range of issues at any one time
Desirable criteria
- An understanding of the NHS
- Knowledge of EU procurement legislation relating to Public Sector procurement
- Basic knowledge of commercial law
- An awareness of Health and Safety at Work requirements
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 2 or above in Purchasing; or relevant equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- CIPS Purchasing qualification; NVQ Level 3 or above in Purchasing; or relevant equivalent experience
Further Training
Essential criteria
- Willingness to undertake relevant training
- Standard keyboard skills to ensure speed and accuracy
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience within a Purchasing environment within a large organisation
- Use of Word and Excel packages and other computerised purchasing systems
- Customer service experience
- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise own workload to ensure an effective service is provided
- Excellent communication skills, with experience of communicating in situations where complex, sensitive and contentious information may be used
- Experience of working in a busy office environment, working to high standards of accuracy under pressure and meeting deadlines
- Experience in the award of contracts

- Previous NHS experience
- Use of e-mail and the Internet
