Job overview

Are you an experienced professional with a knack for strategic management and space optimisation? King's Mill Hospital is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as the Space Utilisation and Cost Management Lead.

The Space Utilisation and Cost Management Lead will play a key role in reducing space-related costs and supporting the Property Manager and the Trust in the strategic management of the Trust's estate. You will be responsible for all matters related to the occupancy and utilisation of space within the Trust's portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake, maintain, and manage all aspects of space and utilisation for the Trust.

  • Lead on all space occupancy and utilisation matters, liaising with each division/organisation to ensure effective use of space.

  • Support the Property Manager and the Trust in managing space occupancy and cost matters for the Trust's portfolio.

  • Develop and deliver an effective, long-term space management strategy.

  • Contribute to the delivery of the Trust's estate strategy and investment plans

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Developed negotiation skills
  • IT skills i.e CAD, Microsoft office including Project, AutoCAD and BIM software knowledge and implementation experience
  • Report writing skills
  • Highly customer focussed/orientated
  • Good communication skills whether written, verbal or electronic
  • Demonstrable problem-solving capability with ability to maintain a flexible and collaborative approach
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and experience of construction legislation including planning and compliance regulations
  • Good working knowledge of HTM’s, HBN’s and other NHS guidance
  • Good knowledge of MiCAD and space utilisation software

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Specialist professional knowledge via an degree level or equivalent
  • Membership of recognised professional institution relevant to the role such as IOSH, RICS, RIBA, APM, CIBSE, etc
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
Desirable criteria
  • Previous knowledge of the NHS
  • Health and Safety training and qualifications e.g NEBOSH certificate and/or construction safety
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety and financial aspects of Capital Management

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable relevant experience within a similar role
  • Good knowledge and experience of managing and delivering schemes which involve movement of staff
  • Good stakeholder management skills
  • Effective management of programmes and budget
  • Proven experience of managing internal and contractor teams
Desirable criteria
  • Experience involving the refurbishment and construction on NHS buildings
  • Experience of working with a Project Management Office
  • Experience of estates property management and space utilisation
