Job overview

The post-holder will work as a Community Support Worker within the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Team, with an emphasis of covering mid Notts and North Nottinghamshire providing support in the delivery of evidence-based specialist mental health assessments and interventions that are socially inclusive and recovery-focused, in line with national standards for people aged 14-65 experiencing first episode psychosis (FEP) pathway.

Main duties of the job

The Community Support Worker has a specific remit to support service users to identify and develop clear recovery focused goals and support service users to attain these during their time in the EIP service.

The role involves contributing to and supporting the wider multi-disciplinary team in the timely assessment of service users referred to the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Team, the provision of evidence-based interventions either on an individual or group basis to those supported by the service and the use of standard outcome measures to monitor recovery using the HoNOS, QPR and DIALOG.

The post holder may also be expected to use creative ability to use groups to aid the mental and physical health of service users with a first episode psychosis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The EIP team is a community-based service. The post-holder will be required to travel across Mid-Notts and North Nottinghamshire to support the needs of service users, their family members and carers. The use of digital technologies to support service need and delivery are likely to be required within this role.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 with commitment to train to NVQ 3 Certificate in Mental Health
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Mental Health
  • Evidence of other updating and development in social/mental health care

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with people with psychosis and/ or personality disorders in community settings
  • Experience of providing support to family members and carers
  • Experience of supporting people in terms of their social and occupational functioning
  • Experience in providing input into assessment and management of clinical risk
  • Experience of multidisciplinary and multi-agency working
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in an EIP service
  • Experience of working with people with psychosis to develop recovery focused goals
  • Supporting people with psychosis to achieve recovery focused goals

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of national agenda related to EIP services
  • Awareness of the culture and philosophy underpinning EIP services
