Main duties of the job

The main duties of the job are to support the Medical Records Manager and Team Leader as follows:

  • Day to day supervision of staff and to ensure that all teams are supported to locate, prepare and provide case notes for all outpatient attendances and emergency admissions
  • Recruitment and selection of new staff
  • Ensure induction and training of staff in liaison with departmental leadership team
  • Reporting of sickness absence and completion of back to work interviews
  • Prepare and adapt staff rotas

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Computer literate, experience of using a keyboard plus skills equivalent to RSA II
  • Knowledge of NHS patient based systems
Desirable criteria
  • Good understanding and knowledge of current NHS policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education.
Desirable criteria
  • Microsoft packages

Further Training

Essential criteria
  • IHRIM Certificate
Desirable criteria
  • Completion of supervisors course
  • Service Improvement Training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clerical experience
  • Time management skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Customer care experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience of training other staff

Contractual

  • Good attendance record, punctual and smart appearance.
