Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good general education standard/ GCSE qualifications in English and maths (grade C or above) or equivalent
  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
Desirable criteria
  • Study beyond GCSE
  • Advanced ECDL

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of data collection, spreadsheets/databases and clinical audit.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software / Windows-based applications
  • Patient records / case notes
  • Confidentiality
  • Multidisciplinary Team working
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, clinical audit / data validation and analysis gained on the job / further training
Desirable criteria
  • Intermediate level knowledge and understanding of a range of routine work procedures particularly those based on data /information collection and processing
  • Knowledge of FoxPro database software

Further Training

Essential criteria
  • Hospital computer systems e.g. Medway, case note tracking, ORION
  • Wide range of medical / surgical terminology knowledge acquired through further training
Desirable criteria
  • Data analysis / elementary statistics

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Data entry
  • Previous experience within a clinical environment/healthcare setting at Ward Receptionist or equivalent level
  • Team work
Desirable criteria
  • Presentation of data verbally and in written format
  • Extracting data from computerised databases and producing reports
