Lead Clinical Pharmacist - Wathwood Hospital

Based at Wathwood Medium Secure Hospital but may also be required to travel to other trust sites.

Fixed term, up to full time Band 8a position (up to 1WTE, up to 37.5 hours per week, no weekends/Bank Holidays).

We are looking for an experienced clinical mental health pharmacist with a relevant postgraduate qualification. You should have an existing or growing interest in leadership and working in secure mental health settings.

The post is permanent and up full time, although part-time and job share would be considered. Consideration will also be given to those returning to practice.

This unique post offers a qualified and experienced pharmacist the opportunity to further their career by working clinically in a medium
secure forensic mental health setting, and leading and supervising our expert and enthusiastic clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

You will be based at Wathwood Hospital, which provides medium secure services for men. Medicines supply is via an external provider under a service level agreement.  There is no late night, weekend or Bank Holiday working.

You will have responsibility for a clinical caseload and work as an integral multidisciplinary team member. You will be encouraged to use your skills to influence and optimise patient care. Your involvement in our clinical pharmacy services will allow you an exclusive opportunity to develop or extend understanding and expertise of working in a secure mental health setting.

We are a small but passionate team working in one of the most unique settings in the country and as part of a wider secure hospitals pharmacy team operating in all levels of security and across several counties. We pride ourselves on our individual patient focus and working closely with patients to optimise their medicines and facilitate their recovery.

Support to develop any extra skills you may require in this specialised area will be provided. We actively support our staff to engage with relevant educational opportunities, including formal postgraduate qualifications. We have strong links with the College of Mental Health Pharmacy and regularly attend and present work at conference.

Our Wathwood site is located on the outskirts of Rotherham and is central for all amenities. Parking is on site and free. Yorkshire is a great place to live, with both large cities and a range of rural and coastal areas within easy reach.

Qualifications

  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Psychiatric Pharmacy

  • Current membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Current membership of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy
  • Credentialed membership of Mental Health Pharmacy
  • Evidence of leadership development
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
