An exciting but rare opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Positive and Safe Violence Reduction (PSVR) Team Leader at Rampton High Secure Hospital. The role of PSVR Team Leader will support the PSVR Training Manager in the leadership of the Permanent Band 5 trainer, Team Administrator, and seconded PSVR trainers.  

The PSVR Team Leader will ensure and maintain a high quality of training delivered to all staff at Rampton Hospital and within Nottinghamshire NHS Foundation Trust. 

The post holder will review and evaluate the training curriculum under the direction of the PSVR Training Manager and Trustwide Lead for Violence Reduction Training, by ensuring any National developments, recommendations, and guidance are reflected in the training received by staff within Nottinghamshire Health Care. 

The post holder will be an experienced PSVR trainer with an extensive knowledge  base and operational experience, the post holder will be an active trainer across the whole of the training curriculum keeping their skills up-to-date and contemporary, including a proven track record within the delivery of all syllabuses including PMVA and Breakaway Training.  The role will also require you to work collaboratively within the Trust,  supporting training centres across the Mental health and community training centres as well as at Rampton Hospital.

The PSVR Team Leader will ensure and maintain the high quality of training delivered to all staff in Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, with a key focus on supporting the training needs within Rampton Hospital.

The post holder will review & evaluate the training curriculum under the direction of the Trustwide Professional Lead for Violence Reduction Training, by ensuring National developments including ensuring recommendations and guidance are reflected in the training received by all staff In Notts Health Care. 

 To ensure through education, training, and development, that the organisational objectives are achieved and that a high-quality service for patients and staff is assured. Contribute to the planning and delivery of other PMVA and other relevant training as required to meet Rampton Hospital’s and to support the Forensic Care Group training objectives.

The post holder will be an experienced PSVR Trainer with an extensive knowledge base and operational experience within Rampton Hospital; the post holder will be an active trainer across the whole of the training curriculum, keeping their skills up-to-date and contemporary, including a proven track record within the delivery of all syllabuses including PMVA and Breakaway Training. 

The post holder will hold or will be required to work towards the completion of a degree-level in Professional Practice related to Violence Reduction or equivalent

  • To support in the leadership of the Positive & Safe Violence Reduction Training team including the Band 5 permanent and the seconded PSVR Trainers.
  • To ensure that all Positive & Safe Violence Reduction Trainers are up to date with their own training and that each has a PAD that identifies their own professional development plan.
  • To support the PSVR Training Manager at Rampton Hospital, to ensure that the training curriculum is developed to adhere to the Positive and Safe Violence Reduction Training manual (PSVR) and meets the training needs of staff for inductions and annual updates under the guidance and direction of the Trust Lead for PSVR Training.
  • Advise the Forensic division regarding identified risk issues related to the recognition, prevention and management of violence and aggression, and personal safety.
  • To attend reducing restrictive practice forums and appraise and advise on matters relating to the use of physical restraint and complex matters.
  • To support training which meets National agendas around the use of Physical intervention training and maintain systems in place to ensure continuity and alignment to Mandated standards. i.e., RRN
  • Ensure the delivery of effective training and development within a changing clinical environment.
  • Responsible for the preparation, delivery, evaluation, and administration of PMVA training.
  • Responsible for the delivery of high quality and cost-effective training solutions in relation to PMVA.
  • Actively contribute to training opportunities per the agreed work plan.
  • Report, as requested by the Professional Lead for Violence Reduction training on all matters relating to training activity.
  • Provide motivation and encouragement to course participants.
  • Assess course participants ensuring high standards of skill and competency are achieved / maintained.
  • Assist in the maintenance of course participants achievement and provide additional support as required.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs to ensure quality of the service.
  • Contribute to the evaluation/implementation of advances in practice/theory and keep up to date of research and development in this field.
  • Act as a liaison adviser to nominated specialist areas, within Rampton Hospital, in relation to PMVA matters.
  • Contribute to the management of emergency incidents where the PMVA team’s attendance is requested

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. Qualifications - Academic / Craft / Professional

  • • Diploma in Violence Reduction at Level 4
  • • Hold a degree in professional practice in Violence Reduction.
  • • Teaching Certificate at Level 3 or above
  • • Possess first aid at work certificate.
  • • Demonstrate a knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice guidance.
  • • Possess an AIMS level 3 certification in prevention and management of violence and aggression.
  • • Possess an AIMS level 4 certification in prevention and management of violence and aggression.
