The post holder will work alongside colleagues and teams across adult mental health. The teams core business is supporting the offer of 1:1 and group Care and family support, Behavioural Family Therapy Clinical interventions, providing training, supervision, audit/ service evaluation and consultancy.
Supporting teams to develop and embed an 'opt in ' approach to working with carers families' and friends , that values their experience and expertise. The post holder will take a lead on training, supervision, audit, clinical consultancy and direct clinical work. This will include supporting the embedding of the 'think family' safeguarding approach and also the principles and standards of the Triangle of care.
The Family interventions is a county and city wide service, with a strong managerial and clinical team that oversight. You will be expected to line manage a small number of junior staff within the team and clinically supervise Carer Peer Support Workers working in other teams. You will be expected to travel to different sites/base as required. However flexibility is granted to work from home on occasions and the base can be negotiated.
There is 1 full time post and 1 part time post available.

Contribute to the assessment of patients/supporters with a specific responsibility in assessing suitability for Family Intervention’s within adult mental health.
Responsible for the provision of specialist Family Interventions to patients/supporters based on various models of family interventions, within an evidenced based approach.
Make recommendations based on specialist Family Interventions of presenting areas for work to be carried out with patients/supporters by staff and provide support and supervision as necessary to colleagues to carry these out.
In conjunction with managers and senior clinicians, develop procedures and processes for the application of Family Interventions within the service.
Support in the facilitation of the Carer Education & Support Programme (CESP).
Support ongoing service development relating to NICE guidelines.

Great opportunity for a highly trained Family Therapist to join the Family Interventions Team. The post holder will take a lead and focus for Carers and Families across the Adult Mental Health care unit, ensuring that high quality NICE approved interventions are offered to the support networks surrounding our service users.
Engage with other professionals to development a family inclusive approach for service uses and their loved ones.
To participate as a senior clinician in the development of a high quality, responsive and accessible service including advising both service and professional management on those aspects of the service where Family Interventions is appropriate.
To participate as appropriate in staff recruitment.
Supervision of junior staff.
Supervision of BFT trainers & supervisors.
Lead the monthly BFT group supervisions.

- Core Qualification - RMN, OT, SW or psychology
- Registration to relevent professional body

- Training in other relevant therapeutic modalities
- Leadership (qualification/recognised training
- Qualification in clinical supervision recognised (by accrediting body)
Training

- Teaching training/qualification
Experience

- Relevant practice in first profession plus clinical experience as above.
- Experience of working with people who have mental health difficulties/diagnoses and their families
- Experience of working with diverse service user groups
- Experience of maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of working in a family therapy setting or service and reflecting team approach
- Experience of working with people and their families with psychosis
- Extensive experience at a band 6 level or above

- Experience of training others in family interventions
Knowledge

- Knowledge of the theory and practices of specialist family therapies and clinical supervision as practised within the field of systemic psychotherapy
- Knowledge of guidelines/policy informing best practice within mental health services for families
- Knowledge of research and models of good practice that inform direct and indirect working
- Knowledge of evidenced treatments when working with people with a mental health disorder
Skills

- Skills in using complex methods of specialist assessment, formulation, intervention, and clinical management in a range of contexts frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration and maintaining a restricted position for long periods .
- Ability to exercise autonomous responsibility making clinical judgments in highly complex, challenging and emotive situations interpreting Trust policies and working within professional guidelines
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, interpersonally, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
- Skills in liaison with other agencies and in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
- Developed skills in the understanding, processing and resolution of ethical issues
- Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice
- Physical skills for manipulation in use of video/audio recording equipment/IT
