Job overview

This is a new role that will be supporting the patients and staff in the diabetes foot clinic, undertaking dressing and the application and removal of plaster casts. you will also be supporting the patients to understand about their disease and how to monitor and manage this. you will also be working with the diabetes nurse specialist team to support the inpatient referrals

Patient education responding to referrals from inpatients educating newly diagnosed patients training staff and supporting their learning

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • registered nurse associate
  • qualified in applying and removal of plaster casts
Desirable criteria
  • teaching qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • experience in dressings
  • experience in applying and removal of plaster casts
Desirable criteria
  • minimum of 3 months experience following completion of nursing associate course

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • understanding of diabetes and the ways to monitor blood sugar levels
  • understanding of complex dressing options
Desirable criteria
  • understanding of competency packages and assessment of staff
