Are you a highly experienced HCPC qualified podiatrist looking for your next leadership role? Our desired applicant will have the clinical expertise to provide senior clinical leadership across our Community Podiatry Services.

As a clinical expert, you will lead a team of specialist podiatrists, each of whom act as a clinical lead for their locality team. You will strive to support and supervise both experienced colleagues and newly qualified teammembers and contribute to overall staff education and service development. You will also link with other Health Care professionals and the Diabetic Foot care team in the acute sector.

Above all, you will be expected to provide strong leadership and direction for the service, working together to provide excellent patient care and good team dynamics.

You will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and strategic direction for all employees of OHFT Podiatry Service. You will also be required to deputise for the Podiatry operational lead as required.

You will have an exciting opportunity to develop and implement clinical standard operating procedures based on evidence-based practice. This includes leading and coordinating clinical skills development for the service, as well as designing new models of care and clinical governance. You will deliver podiatry services as determined by Service Level Agreements and contracts and produce reports and audits to monitor progress and achievement.

Applications are invited from motivated BSc qualified and HCPC registered podiatrists with NHS experience who are keen to advance their clinical, professional and leadership skills.

In this role you will be responsible for delivering a high quality, accessible and timely evidence based clinical pathway for patients, supporting your local community podiatry team with high risk/wound clinics.

You will provide clinical leadership to that clinical pathway and take responsibility in educating colleagues and training staff with your specialist knowledge.  You will help lead on the training of Apprentice Podiatrists, Podiatry assistants and mentoring newly qualified clinicians as well as students on placement.  You will be an excellent communicator, able to work independently, organised, and confident.

This post is based around Oxfordshire, and the post holder will also be required to visit patients’ homes, attend meetings or training across the wider county. Own car is essential.

  • MA/MSc or equivalent level of academic ability/experience (or working towards) BSc Podiatry (or diploma in Podiatric Medicine with equivalent experience) HCPC registration

  • Relevant postgraduate certificates or postgraduate diploma (or to be achieved within agreed timescale)

Experience

  • Management/leadership experience Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team and liaison with other health care professionals
  • Demonstration of evidence based practice and awareness of latest clinical developments/research and the national healthcare landscape
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of NHS podiatry service provision

  • Knowledge of wider community and primary care service operations
  • Research and/or publications

Skills

  • Progressive / advanced clinical practice – effective analysis and decision making in wound management, offloading, biomechanical gait analysis and nail surgery experience or qualification teaching/training/ mentoring of colleagues/students/health care professionals/patients/ public
  • Experience of working with patients with multiple co-morbidities, including diabetes
  • Experience interpreting blood test results.
  • Ability to interpret X-ray

  • Evidence of understanding of relevant common prescription medicines
  • Ability to interpret CTS and MRI
  • Independent prescriber qualification
  • Awareness of budget management
