Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust has been rated as Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

We are a responsive and innovative Foundation Trust that places our values of Caring, Safe and Excellent at the heart of everything we do. We take great pride in our staff and believe that investing in you is key to us achieving our vision of outstanding care delivered by outstanding people.

We work with a wide range of partner organisations to deliver care and support to people in their own homes and from a number of hospitals and community bases. We focus on delivering care as close to home as possible for people of all ages across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Swindon, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset.

Job overview

A brilliant opportunity has arisen at The Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit (OSRU) for a part time Physiotherapist who has previous experience in stroke or neurological rehabilitation to join the team on a fixed term contract for 6 months.

We are a 20-bed inpatient service, based at Abingdon Community Hospital, providing rehabilitation for patients post acute stroke as part of the Oxfordshire stroke pathway.

You will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team which encompasses dietitians, doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists and speech and language therapists.

Please feel welcome to contact us if you have any questions about the role or would like more information.  Informal visits are also welcomed.  The successful candidate will need to be flexible working over 7 days.

Main duties of the job

OSRU is an innovative and dynamic service with a strong commitment to evidence based practice and quality improvement.   You will deliver safe, effective rehabilitative care and discharge planning, working in partnership with colleagues in the stroke multidisciplinary team and other agencies both within and external to the trust.

We are looking for someone who will also be keen to participate in quality improvement projects and support junior staff/student development.  The new national clinical guideline for stroke has raised the bar for rehabilitation provision and this is a great opportunity to be part of a team innovating and evolving to deliver this!

Education and professional development are key elements to this role with excellent support available for additional training/further study in this specialist area.  The service also has well established  links with local research teams and is open to recruitment for a number of rehabilitation research trials.
