Are you interested in developing your skills while developing the services we provide to patients within mental health services?

We are keen to hear from psychological practitioners who are either ready for something new in their 8a role, ready the step to an 8a role, or who would be ideal for the support of a 7-8a preceptorship / development opportunity. We are interested in speaking to qualified/accredited psychological practitioners with systemic, CBT, or psychotherapy expertise.

We have a range of roles and sessions in the acute care pathway (Buckinghamshire) and lots of opportunities to work across or within several services. We have roles within the Acute Inpatient setting, female and male wards, as well as the newly formed Buckinghamshire Community Rehabilitation  Team!

We would really love to hear from you – you know what you want to develop further, as well as roles you want to pursue, and we are really open to hearing your ideas and supporting your professional development!

This role carries an incentive premium of £3,500 (pro-rata) which will be paid in instalments over an 18 month period.  Please note that this scheme is not open to existing employees of Oxford Health.

Main duties of the job

The core work of the 8a Clinical / Counselling Psychologists in acute inpatient services are to provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions for adults with severe and/or complex mental health problems while they are on the ward, as well as working with teams to provide consultation, support and training and working with families and carers.  The post holder(s) will also be working with the patients and teams for co-produced service growth and development as well as being involved in supervising trainees and assistant psychologists.

If you have had ideas about what might develop better services for the populations we serve, we would like to speak to you!

In the post you will receive expert clinical supervision and management support and will have access to a wide range of CPD activities alongside a strong network of psychological therapists in Buckinghamshire. There are excellent opportunities for service development, service evaluation/research and teaching/training. The service has excellent links with the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology Training and Research and regularly has trainees doing clinical placements and research.
