An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time, permanent Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist working in the North Oxfordshire Adult Learning Disability Team (Monday to Friday, based in Banbury, with countywide travel), with an offer of some remote home working included. 

You will be working as part of a part of a small enthusiastic team of Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) within an innovative service which provides specialist, holistic assessment and intervention for adults with learning disabilities. Each therapist is embedded within a multi-disciplinary team, working alongside a range of allied health professionals, Nurses, Psychologists and Psychiatrists, allowing a uniquely holistic style of working.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialist speech and language assessment and therapy, including the assessment and implementation of both low-tech and high-tech AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) for individual service users.
  • You will be providing assessment and intervention for adults with learning disabilities who have communication  needs.
  • It's important for you to recognise your own professional boundaries and competencies and will have access to support and supervision from a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist and Clinical Lead Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist. 
  • You will manage an independent communication caseload and will also be responsible for delivering specialist communication training to families, support staff and other professionals in the North of Oxfordshire and supporting with the running of our communication groups.

This post would be suitable for newly qualified applicants and those who are not dysphagia trained and includes opportunities to further develop skills and gain qualifications in dysphagia.

We are passionate about continued professional development; offering both external and internal training opportunities and regular continued professional development sessions within the service to support this. You will be offered regular support and supervision from a clinical supervisor, alongside the Speech and Language Therapy clinical Lead and North Team manager.

  • Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses.

  • High standard of written communication skills
  • Good auditory and perceptual skills, including ability to transcribe speech phonetically

Knowledge

Experience
