Are you an Occupational Therapist? Looking for a role in mental health that will showcase your skills and give you opportunities to learn and develop?

If so, Oxford Health have opportunities available in our Band 6 mental health rotation that focuses on developing your complex Occupational Therapy clinical skills and investing in growing your leadership capacity.

In this role you will gain experience of inpatient, community, and forensic settings. In each of the year long rotations you will be supported to develop your skills in a different area of clinical leadership. Including investment in training and completing quality improvement projects.

This role carries an incentive premium of £3,500 which will be paid in instalments over an 18th month period. Please note that this scheme is not open to existing employees of Oxford Health and is subject to a claw back clause. 

Main duties of the job

This is a rotational band 6 occupational therapy post across forensic inpatient, crisis and home treatment team, alongside adult and older adult inpatient wards in Oxford. The post holder will provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment interventions for the specified service user group.

They will carry a complex caseload, work alongside the MDT, supervise junior members of the therapy team, support the development of the occupational therapy service provision within the setting and engage in leadership development as part of the role.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • BSc/MSc Occupational Therapy
Desirable criteria
  • Additional sensory training e.g ASI
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Evidence of mental health specific post registration training e.g AMPS, PSI
  • Membership of RCOT may include specialist sections

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable post graduate experience working as an Occupational Therapist
  • Experience of working with mental health service users in a clinical role
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of supervising and developing junior members of staff and students
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of undertaking audit or quality improvement work

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy models of practise
  • Broad knowledge and application of OT in mental health
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to apply the Model of Human Occupation
  • Ability to relate knowledge of physical health to mental health setting
