The Cardiac Angiography Suite (CAS) is a unique area of the Oxford Heart Centre made up of 5 Cath Labs, a 16 bed Day Unit and a 4 bed Assessment Area. 

We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 nurse to complement our friendly multidisciplinary team. Within the area patients undergo a wide variety of cardiac procedures. These include Coronary Angiography/Intervention, Pacemaker/ICD implantation, Electrophysiology Studies/Ablations, Structural/Congenital procedures and Trans-Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). We also perform nurse led Cardioversions, Transoesophageal Echoes, and Drug Challenges. 

The team in CAS strives to provide each and every patient with the best care possible in a safe and welcoming environment. Candidates will need to demonstrate a passion for high quality, patient centred care and a commitment to developing the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver it. We are looking for a forward thinking enthusiastic Senior Staff Nurse. You will be required to demonstrate project management and people management skills in order to help lead the service and support the team. The right candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience of multidisciplinary collaborative practice and proven leadership and organisational skills.

The post involves working between the Day Unit/Assessment Area and the Cath Labs. Previous experience in a Cardiac Catheter Laboratory setting is compulsory for this role. We provide ongoing opportunities for career development and training for additional extended roles such as conscious sedation and nurse led cardioversions. We also have close ties with Oxford Brookes University providing excellent prospects for continued education and qualifications.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

The post holder will be an expert nurse within cardiology and will assist with the delivery of multidisciplinary care for cardiology patients, working alongside the CAS sister and wider senior team.

The post holder will support and assist with activities which contribute towards staff development and education in order to ensure the delivery of effective, evidence based multidisciplinary practice. 

The post holder is responsible for providing expert practice through leadership, consultation, clinical advice, teaching and support for staff.

The post holder will work with clinical colleagues to provide information, advice and support to patients with complex cardiac conditions

The post holder will identify and initiate changes in response to the needs of the service and will assist with fostering a culture that contributes to the clinical governance agenda. 

The post holder will facilitate the provision of high-quality safe care within the department. The role will include working clinically and acting as a role model for staff, co-ordinating the unit, shadowing and mentoring junior team members and having management time to assist with projects/ undertake work relevant to the Band 6 role. 

The post holder will contribute towards the development and implementation of protocols and guidance, and provide assurance of the provision of evidence-based care for patients.
