Job overview

Due to the promotion of the existing incumbent to CFO in another Trust, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) is looking for a new Director of Finance. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, Jason Dorsett, this is a pivotal role within the CFO's Leadership team, leading the operational finance function and supporting the delivery of the Trust's aims and improvements in quality, efficiency and effectiveness. The role also acts as Deputy CFO.

Main duties of the job

The Director of Finance is responsible for all aspects of the financial management of the Trust, including financial strategy and management, investment of cash and financial risk and investment appraisal.

Leading a large and capable finance directorate, you will have a positive attitude towards performance improvement and driving sustainable change.

Responsibilities will include:

* Providing strategic and operational leadership for finance across the organisation
* Defining the financial objectives for the Trust to meet board approval and the requirements of NHS England
* Overseeing and ensuring sound financial management, financial reporting and budgetary control
* Providing comprehensive financial services to the Trust including end of year accounts for statutory and regulatory purposes
* Working in collaboration with Divisional Leadership Teams and Divisional Heads of Finance to ensure the provision of high quality Business Partnering services
* Aligning the Trust's financial management with that of the ICS and representing the trust at ICS meetings
* Representing the CFO at Trust Executive /Chief Officer meetings as appropriate

You will have significant financial leadership experience in a complex organisation and a strong understanding of the healthcare sector, whether gained through the NHS or independent sector, or both.
