1 YEAR FIXED TERM MATERNITY COVER (from August 2024)

We are looking for a conscientious clinical pharmacist with good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, and an enthusiastic outlook to support service expansion as part of a friendly and dynamic pharmacy team lead by a consultant pharmacist.
Our team supports a range of services to wards, daycase units and outpatients within one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in the UK, with a national and international reputation for the excellence of its services and role in teaching and research.
This post will provide the successful candidate an opportunity to develop both their clinical, managerial and research skills and develop a collaborative working relationship with both senior and junior clinicians and nursing teams within the organisation and with colleagues in primary care.
The successful candidate should ideally have some previous gastroenterology/hepatology pharmacy experience or the prescribing of biologics although this is not essential.
Main duties of the job
Key aspects of the role include:
· Support the provision of a clinical pharmacy service to the gastroenterology/hepatology wards and daycase units.
· Participate in the delivery of care to outpatient and virtual clinic settings.
- Support the provision and development of a holistic, specialist pharmaceutical care service to patients receiving high -risk, high-cost medication (e.g. biologics, hepatitis anti-virals) delivered via homecare services.
- Support the implementation of biosimilars and other cost-effective savings.
· Work as a non- medical prescriber within an agreed framework.
· Support the application of new medications to the formulary and the implementation of local and national guidance e.g. NICE.
- Maintain records of patients on high-cost therapies (e.g. biologics) and assist with monitoring such as BlueTeq to ensure compliance with NICE and commissioning guidelines.
· Provide education, training and support to pharmacy, nursing, and medical colleagues.
· Attend and contribute MDT ward rounds, meetings, and Homecare user group as appropriate.
· Participate in clinical audit and research.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This is a key role within the pharmacy team delivering services to the Gastroenterology, Endoscopy and Theatres (GET) directorate.
The post-holder will be an active member of both the Pharmacy & Sterile Services Directorate and the GET directorate to ensure continuous two-way exchange of information and maintain high standards of medicines use within the directorates.
