Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To participate and coordinate the provision of a specialised decontamination of medical
devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient.
Provide a high quality and timely service to all service users/customers.
To ensure Departmental Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to by all staff in
accordance with Quality Management Systems.
To supervise and allocate duties to staff.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Experience to NVQ3 through decontamination training and nonroutine experience plus applied training to Foundation degree/diploma in medical device decontamination or equivalent level

Management/Supervisory Management Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience in all sections of a decontamination department
Understands the concept and management of urgent /priority medical devices and nonconformances
Experience using decontamination equipment and electronic tracking systems
Can demonstrate the ability to work to strict standards of quality and safety

Desirable criteria

Experience of supervising less experienced/qualified staff

Essential criteria

Knowledge of decontamination specific procedures and policies
Ability to work as part of a team Ability to communicate with colleagues and service users on both routine and complex matters.
Ability to participate in the planning of day-to-day procedures and processes.

Good working knowledge of reusable medical devices (surgical instruments/equipment)
Computer literate with experience of working with the Microsoft Office package

Ability to recognise and monitor parameters of quality, accuracy and non-conformance according to departmental standard operational procedures.
