THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO SECONDMENT COVER.

A unique and exciting fixed term secondment opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to be appointed as a Band 8a Senior Research Delivery Nurse, Midwife or Allied Health Professional who will be responsible for strong clinical leadership within Health and Care Research Wales Research Delivery Hub 

 

The Senior Research Delivery Nurse / Midwife or Allied Health Professional will be an experienced independent specialist practitioner who will work in partnership with the National Head of Research Delivery. 

  

The post holder will have a key role in developing and implementing research delivery across primary and community, secondary and social care settings. 

 

The post holder will require excellent communication skills, have a positive and flexible approach to the needs of the Service, be motivated, ready for the next challenge and enjoy working as part of a very busy team.

Main duties of the job

 
  • be responsible for strong dynamic clinical leadership for alignment and management of the Health and Care Research Wales Research Delivery Hub workplans.  

  • have a key role in developing and implementing the ambitions of One Wales research delivery across primary and community, secondary and social care settings. 
 
  •  work closely with Health and Care Research Wales Specialty Leads to lead, strengthen, and network support for research delivery across Wales.  
  •  drive strategies to raise awareness and value of research as NHS core business and will proactively implement and support innovative approaches to delivering trials. 
  •  play a key role within strategic groups in Wales including workstreams within the Support and Delivery Centre and in relation to the UK Clinical Research Strategy.  
  •  lead aspects of and support delivery of strategic partnerships with industry related to research delivery. 
  •  work with the National Research Delivery Team to lead and support workforce development initiatives and workplans and to support Health and Care Research Wales priorities and activities related to the research delivery workforce across NHS Wales.  
  •  represent devolved nations as required at UK meetings/events nationally and internationally.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Health Care Professional (Nurse/Midwife/ Allied Health Professional)
  • Educated to master’s level or equivalent relevant experience
  • Substantial clinical experience including experience in undertaking, coordinating and managing clinical research
  • Knowledge of research delivery services in NHS organisations
  • Understanding of clinical and medical and research terminology and concepts
  • Specific domain/theoretical/ practical knowledge of organisations, processes, policy knowledge relevant to research delivery
  • Capable of leading and initiating change

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working within NHS setting to deliver commercial and non- commercially funded research
  • Professional leadership at an operational level
  • Experience of supporting service users and/or their carers in research involvement
  • Significant management experience in an NHS senior role including staff management
  • Extensive experience in research management within the NHS/Healthcare setting
  • Experience of partnership building between organisations
  • Significant leadership experience including experience of leadership in organisational change
  • Project management qualification or significant experience in managing complex and large projects/programmes
  • Experience of managing research teams and motivating and inspiring staff to work together to achieve a common objective
  • Strong understanding of Research Governance and the legislative framework
  • Understanding of the NHS clinical environment
  • Flexible approach to working including problem solving skills, management of change and a desire to develop knowledge
  • Highly specialised knowledge of current UK environment for clinical research in the NHS
  • Up to date specialist knowledge/experience of legislation, national policy, and guidance relevant to research delivery roles
