Job overview

        Detailed knowledge of the models used in weight management services and   strategic vision.

      Wide clinical dietetic experience and evidence of continuous professional   development.

      Significant experience of implementing models and developing services.

           An understanding of methods used to support people to manage long term health conditions.

            Willingness to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and supervise staff.

 Ability to provide training and supervision to the multidisciplinary team and wider dietetic students.

Enthusiasm for audit, research and development.

Ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential for this post.

Excellent digital skills, including being able to use the full range of Microsoft 365 tools.

 

 

Main duties of the job

To operationally manage and deliver the specialist dietetic service. The post holder will ensure that the day to day service provided is patient-centred, effective and of a high quality.
Take a lead role in the highly specialist assessment and treatment of service users, who may have complex and/or chronic presentation, to determine clinical diagnosis and therapy treatment indicated, and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
Lead on the ongoing development of the specialist service in Powys by close liaison with external partners and specialist networks.
Have highly effective communication skills, and demonstrate these on a continual basis with patients, carers, colleagues and the wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
Participate in complex integrated teams in the community attending appropriate meetings.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • HCPC Registered Dietician
  • Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in Dietetics
  • Accredited post graduate study relevant to clinical area at Masters level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of services that link across the primary/secondary care interface to provide integrated care in the specialism
  • Advanced level experience of clinical dietetic skills within the specialism managing complex/non-complex caseloads
Desirable criteria
  • Advanced knowledge gained through active membership of specialist clinical / dietetic groups / networks
  • Advanced Clinical Practitioner
  • Ability to speak Welsh

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of current policies and applications in the clinical area
