Job overview

We are now in a position to recruit a Receptionist (Band 2) to join our team on a permanent basis for 15 hrs per week. 

The main purpose of the role is to provide reception cover for a variety of clinical areas within the Trust, with a focus on providing an excellent patient experience in all interactions; the post holder will demonstrate attention to detail and organisational skills. The post holder will also provide comprehensive administration support to ensure deadlines are achieved and flow of work is prioritised in order to meet targets and objectives.

Main duties of the job

Provide a professional and efficient reception service to a variety of clinical areas within the trust. To greet and reassure patients on arrival and give them clear instructions ensuring a patient centered 
service is maintained at all times.

Supporting Clinical Colleagues in organising the daily running of the outpatient clinics, and maintaining patient flow through the department, whilst keeping patients informed of any delays. 

To liaise with clinical staff to ensure smooth running of clinics and to develop good working practices and relationships with the team.

To provide advice and information to patients regarding their appointments, clinic arrangements etc; resolve queries from patients and relatives in relation to these areas and reassure nervous patients.

To gather and share information as required for the relevant clinical area, either verbally or electronically, which is pertinent to the members of the clinical and non- clinical teams, exercising discretion and confidentiality at all times.

To pass on queries to colleagues within the team ensuring that patients are communicated with in an effective manner.

Ensure that outcomes of outpatient clinics are recorded and directed to relevant secretarial and clerical staff with full reasons for attendances/cancellations/postponements. 

To liaise with portering staff to transport patients to x-ray and transport desk.
