Job overview

A vacancy has arisen for a Locally Employed Doctor (Higher - ST 6-8 equivalent) within Paediatric Orthopaedics, commencing August 2024 rotation.

Main duties of the job

Weekly clinical duties will include care of the orthopaedic in-patients on the ward, pre-operative assessment, first surgical assistant support in Theatres/out-patient clinics and supervised surgeries.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The postholder will be required to participate in the duty rota for the Orthopaedic Specialist Registrars, which includes the following full shifts on rotation with their colleagues (see attached job description).

Registrations and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registration with the General Medical Council and no restrictions on practice.
  • Valid ATLS

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Currently working in an acute orthopaedic setting
  • Able to demonstrate basic general surgery and orthopaedic surgery competence
  • Able to demonstrate competency in managing the care of a deteriorating patient
  • Able to provide basic pre-operative and post-operative care

Attributes

  • Caring attitude to patients
  • Able to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients and members of the public
