This is an opportunity to develop your career and your practice with children in mainstream schools with Developmental Language Disorder and Specific Speech Disorder at Band 7 until summer 2026.

The role provides opportunities to develop both your clinical and team leadership, and your service delivery and performance management skills.

This is a time of change, with new roles emerging within our specialist teams. This secondment opportunity will allow you to shape the role of support workers, develop further quality assurance processes and help practitioners from different backgrounds to develop their careers in children's SLT.

If you would like to

• Be part of the Children's SLT leadership team; implementing, developing, and evaluating the SSLIC service and supporting the delivery of evidence based outcomes across the SLT service for children with DLD and SSD
• Provide clinical leadership for the SSLIC service. To work in close partnership with other professionals and organisations to deliver a an integrated model of care, making a significant contribution to improving health, social and education outcomes, and reducing inequalities
• Be responsible for issues relating to clinical and best practice in schools alongside education colleagues
• And continue to provide direct highly specialist SLT care for children, their families and school staff

• To provide clinical leadership for the service to Children and Young People with complex needs and associated with developmental language disorder and specific speech disorder, and to Families, Health Professionals and School based staff who support them. Together with Team Leaders and other Clinical Leads within the Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Team and relevant Managers of Children’s Services, to be responsible for issues relating to clinical practice and quality and for the performance of the team.
• To develop and maintain positive relationships with Pre School and School based staff, and other relevant professionals and service managers to promote the early identification of Speech, Language and Communication Needs, the implementation of evidence-based interventions and the skills of the children’s workforce in meeting these needs.
• To provide highly-specialist and high-quality assessment and intervention in Community and where needed Specialist settings for children with complex and specific speech and language needs including for children and young people with additional learning, physical or sensory difficulties, their carers, and educators.
