Job overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our Team in Cellular Pathology.

The post holder will use their knowledge and expertise of managing medical rotas to identify problems and using their initiative provide and enact solutions to rota issues.  

The successful applicant will be expected to monitor future rotas and plan ahead in order to reduce the number of vacant shifts. This means work is managed, rather than supervised and therefore requires an element of option appraisal and judgment in identifying the most appropriate solution to the staffing issue. You will be required to track and locate Histology slides, blocks, and reports.

 

Main duties of the job

     Receive and respond efficiently to annual leave and study leave requests from all grades of doctors/BMS Reporters ensuring the sign off process and Trust policy is followed.

·       Monitor sickness, study and annual leave requests for junior doctors and consultant, and BMS Reporters maintaining accurate records as required and ensuring there is sufficient cover arrangements to deliver the service needs for all periods of leave.

·       Implement of Consultants rotas using Health Roster, liaising closely with Departmental and Operational Leads within Pathology, as well as ensuring the rotas are implemented equally amongst staff.

·       Acting as a single point of contact regarding all aspects of Health Roster and rotas.  

      The post holder will be required to track and locate Histology slides, blocks, and reports.

·       The post holder will be required to check patient details for accuracy and/or duplication.

Essential criteria
  • GCSE of Grade C or above, for English, Maths and Science or equivalent of experience.
  • Must have sufficient initiative and experience to act independently.
  • Experience of working with medical staff.
  • Experience of using Microsoft office
Desirable criteria
  • Medical Terminology qualification or equivalent level of working with Medical Terminology.
  • Experience of working with complex rotas.
  • Experience/Awareness of Cancer Targets
