Radiology Assistant

NHS AfC: Band 2

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has become available to recruit Radiology Assistants to work within the Radiology Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

We are looking for people who are caring and compassionate and who have strong communication and observation skills to deliver excellent patient-focused care in a challenging environment. You must be able to work well as part of a team.  You must be flexible in your approach as you will be required to work days, nights and weekends to meet the needs of the service.

As a Trust, our vision is to provide excellent care for the communities we serve and that means giving our patients the best care and experience we can.

Consideration will be given to applicants for both full-time and part-time hours.

Main duties of the job

The post involves supporting our Radiologists, Radiographers and Assistant Practitioners in providing quality patient care in all modalities of the imaging department including CT, MRI and the general department.

For this role, you will be required to assist with the movement of patients around the examination rooms, to use the Radiology Information System (CRIS), ensure equipment is used correctly and any faults reported and to liaise with a wide range of staff, including those from other departments.  In return, we offer you work within a friendly and supportive environment and in a team who are committed to providing and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Working for our organisation

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of acute medical care for half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid-Wales and has been awarded over £300 million to invest in our hospitals. Shropshire is the largest inland county in the UK with Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, World Heritage sites and access to Mid Wales and the Welsh coast. There are good schools, amazingly affordable housing and a wide range of leisure pursuits.
