Job overview
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust provides Level 2 Neonatal Services. We have 22 cots, 3 ITU, 3HDU and 16 special care cots.
We are looking for two enthusiastic ANNP's to join our Neonatal service as part of the tier 1 rota, these roles have arisen due to promotions within the team, you will be joining an established ANNP team who are friendly and welcoming and aim to make a collective difference to babies and families we care for.
This demanding role requires passionate, highly motivated and experienced ANNP with excellent communication skills who wish to continue to develop their clinical and leadership skills, delivering high quality care to our neonates and their families.
You will demonstrate safe critical decision making skills whilst working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of premature and sick newborn babies. The team works a medical model assisting to cover the service 24/7.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake Tier 1 duties on the Neonatal Rota, and function at a senior practitioner level, to provide autonomous clinical care.
- Assume a leading role and responsibility in evidence based clinical practice.
- To be a competent practitioner, leading innovation and demonstrating clinical expertise to a complex case load
- The post holder acts as a resource and advisor, providing expertise to the multi-disciplinary team.
- To provide individualised family orientated care utilising advanced clinical skills
- To support and facilitate the education and training of other members of the neo-natal team, including doctors and nurses at all levels.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Part 1/ 8 or 15 of the NMC register
- Recognised Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner course
- Evidence of education to Masters level
- Nurse prescribing and supplementary prescribing course
- Evidence of on-going, dynamic continuing professional development within the speciality
- Neonatal Life Support (NLS) Provider
- Assessing and mentoring qualification
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Training
Desirable criteria
- Neonatal life Support (NLS) Instructor
- Neonatal Retrieval course
- Level 3 Safeguarding training
- Leadership qualification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Expert knowledge of all aspects of the nursing care of critically ill newborn infants
- Detailed understanding of professional and current issues in neonatal nursing and healthcare
- Detailed understanding of health and safety, clinical risk and quality issues
- Relevant ANNP experience in a NICU
- Experience of leading and managing a team of nurses
Desirable criteria
- Experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints
- Knowledge of equipment procurement processes and maintenance contracts
- Trust policies and protocols
