Rotational Pharmacist with STEP Up Development Programme to Band 7

NHS AfC: Band 6

Job overview

We have vacancies to join our friendly team of Rotational Pharmacists at both The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford and The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, where you will gain experience in all the main clinical and therapeutic areas.

With a strong focus on ward based patient centred clinical care, you will be working within and helped by a team of pharmacists and medicine management technicians who are well integrated at ward level. In our aseptic suite you will be involved in the clinical aspects and final release of parenteral nutrition, chemotherapy and radiopharmaceuticals. Candidates will be encouraged and funded to undertake the postgraduate diploma.

This post introduces the STEP Up programme, an in-house structured progression of skills, knowledge and pay advancement from band 6 to band 7 after phase 3 of STEP Up programme linked to the Newly Qualified Pharmacist Pathway and completion of postgraduate modules.

There will be a requirement to participate in extended hours working including weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.

Main duties of the job

  • To carry out duties in Clinical Pharmacy Services at ward and department level. Work closely with Consultants and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, effective and efficient use of medicines.
  • To provide technical support in the preparation of a broad range of aseptically prepared medicinal products (PN, Cytotoxic Chemotherapy, Radiopharmaceuticals etc).
  • To study for, and successfully complete the Postgraduate Clinical Diploma.

Working for our organisation

Due to investment and the development of new roles, there are several new opportunities available within our department.  The Trust managed to secure £312 million from HM Treasury to fully develop the facilities and services within SaTH.

The introduction of Integrated Care Systems (ICS) as part of the NHS Long Term Plan has led to the recent formation of the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care System (STWICS). This is an exciting time that will lead to much improvement for our patient’s care – if you want to make a difference; NOW is the time to join SaTH Pharmacy.

What can SaTH Pharmacy offer you?

  • Patient focused service
  • Supportive and friendly team
  • Opportunities for personal development
