Are you passionate about offering systemic family therapy within an innovative and developing psychological therapies team? Would you like to work in the beautiful UNESCO city of Bath?
We are looking for an enthusiastic Systemic Family Therapist / Clinical Psychologist / psychological therapist to join our friendly, innovative and well-respected multidisciplinary Psychological Therapies Service in BANES on a fixed term, one year, 0.4 WTE contract to work in our Family and Couples Therapy workstream. Secondments are welcome.
It is an exciting time in BANES as our team is developing at a pace with several new staff recently joining. This is alongside several exciting innovations including offering Family and Couples Therapy at Bath City Farm and the development of a bespoke clinical space.
BANES Therapies Team offers a wide range of psychological therapies including CBT, EMDR, MBT, DBT, Art Psychotherapy, Family and Couples Therapy and Psychodynamic therapy, in both group and individual contexts. We have established links with local training providers and all Psychological Therapies staff have access to regular activities to support their ongoing professional development.
BANES Psychological Therapies service has developed good relationships with other teams in the locality, who value the input and contribution of all our team members. We strive to offer the best service possible to our service users.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for somebody with excellent communication and engagement skills, who can work as part of our Family and Couples Therapy workstream. The post-holder will be able to demonstrate a specialist level of clinical competencies in systemic therapy and work alongside the BSW Family Therapy Lead in delivering systemic therapies, and developing systemic clinics for the treatment of various mental health needs. The role will also involve liaison with other locality teams and offering a systemic perspective.
We provide opportunities for training and development and support our staff in skills acquisition through supervision.
We are based in Bath NHS House, co-located with several other community teams. The clinics are based here and at Bath City Farm.
The post is to cover an established staff member taking a year long sabbatical.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
CLINICAL
- To provide a therapeutic service to the designated team including assessment and therapy both for families, individuals and groups as appropriate.
- To provide a specialist consultancy service to multidisciplinary teams and other agencies providing care for the client group.
- To participate in generic team duties as agreed by the operational manager and Psychology Lead as appropriate, to the needs of the service.
- To participate in clinical and caseload supervision arrangements provided by the Psychology Service.
- To maintain accurate records and to monitor clinical workload using agreed systems.
- To ensure timely recording of all data required by the Trust.
- To support the full implementation of CPA acting as care co-ordinator as appropriate to the needs of the service.
PROFESSIONAL
- To adhere to the HCPC policies and procedures or equivalent.
- To fully observe the BPS (1996) Code of Conduct and the DCP Guidelines for the Professional Practice of Clinical Psychology (1995) or equivalent.
- To be aware of, adhere to, and where appropriate, contribute to the formulation and review of Trust, Area and Clinical Psychology Service policies and procedures.
- To participate in local psychology meetings and Trust wide meetings as appropriate.
- To maintain and develop high standards of psychology practice by engaging in continuing professional development and co-operative working/networking with counselling and clinical psychologist colleagues.
- To participate in an annual performance appraisal.
SERVICE GOVERNANCE
- To participate in service governance processes in the profession, ensuring a safe and effective service.
- To support and participate in multidisciplinary clinical audit.
- To liaise with other disciplines and agencies to ensure that best practice is shared.
- To promote the use of effective interventions in the service.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Qualified Registered Mental Health Professional, e.g. Psychologist, Social Worker, Nurse, OT, Art Psychotherapist
- Current relevant registration with a professional body (e.g. NMC or HCPC)
- Qualification in Family Therapy and meet eligibility for AFT registration
Skills and experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with people with severe and enduring mental health difficulties.
- Experience of providing systemic interventions to people with severe and enduring mental health problems.
- Competence in risk assessment and management.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of delivering supervision to other staff
- Experience of delivering training to other staff
