An opportunity has arisen for an Administrator to join the administration team within Cardiology; the post holder will require excellent organisational skills and interpersonal skills to support a multidisciplinary team and Cardiology patients.

You will work closely with the administrative and clinical team, supporting the work of the dept in the provision of an efficient and effective reception and booking service.

The post holder will need good keyboard and computer skills and will cover clerical and administrative tasks.  Full training will be given. 

Prospective candidates should possess a professional attitude to their work and have the ability to work flexibly in a busy environment.

Main duties of the job

To provide an efficient and professional clerical service which gives confidence to patients and their relatives.

  • To receive and make calls, in a professional and courteous manner, taking action and providing information as appropriate.
  • Answer telephone enquiries, taking and relaying messages in a polite and helpful manner, taking action as appropriate. This will include enquiries from patient’s and GP’s.
  • To be responsible for the quality of data entered onto the Trust’s computer systems
  • To maintain patient details /appointments efficiently on the patient administration system. This will include the occasional registration of patient referral letters and completing status of clinics
  • Book, cancel and rebook appointments as directed by the senior team.
  • To liaise with the multidisciplinary team within the Cardiology Division
  • To liaise with nurses, doctors and other members of the department team to provide a quality service for the patients.
  • Be responsible for the quality of data entered onto the Trust’s computer systems
  • To cover reception as necessary
  • To carry out other administrate duties as required, this will include supporting the ordering of equipment/accommodation on the hospitals procurement system, filing of appointment letters, photocopying and the opening and sorting of post.
