Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the senior member of the Finance Team as the Trusts Financial Accountant.

The successful applicant will ensure the management, completion and timely submission of the statutory annual accounts and the provision of financial information to asset in the production of the Annual Report.

With the support from the Treasury team and oversight from the Head of Financial Services the post holder will also manage the Trust’s cash flow on a regular basis, ensuring that sufficient cash balances are maintained. Ensure that the Balance Sheet and control codes are maintained as a true reflection of the Trust’s financial position. Produce and ensure the regular review of Financial Policies and Procedures.

Overseeing the administration of Charitable Funds including the production of the related annual accounts is also part of the role.

The post will be contributing as a member of the wider Finance Senior Team in leading in Financial Skills Development and as part of embedding the Finance Strategy.

Main duties of the job

Operationally support in the production of the annual accounts to meet statutory and audit requirements. 

To assist the Head of Financial Services in ensuring the achievement of the key Trust financial targets via highly developed specialist knowledge of financial accounts procedures and processes.

To offer strategic advice and guidance in the Trust in areas of responsibility, constructively challenging Leaders within areas to ensure significant decisions are made with financial considerations

To provide the Head of Financial Services with the relevant information to gain assurance all relevant financial risks within Financial Accounts are assessed, understood and mitigations plans are in place. 

To produce and interpret highly complex information to support performance monitoring and forecasting, such as Balance Sheets, cash flow etc, for Board reporting, Financial Returns/Monitor return and other external returns as required ensuring that they are submitted in accordance with timetables.

To develop, monitor and report the Trust’s capital programme including the preparation of monthly capital monitoring information (including cash flow management).
