Endoscopy Booking Administrator

Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated, hardworking Administrative and Clerical Support worker to provide administrative support to the Endoscopy booking team.  You will primarily support with booking patients for procedures and  the general office admin as well as supporting with phones, emails and updating patient records.

You will be hard working, want to deliver an excellent service to the patients, their families and carers and be able to get on with a variety of professionals within the team. Good communication skills are therefore essential, as is a well organised approach to paperwork and the ability to act on own initiative.

You will relish a challenge, enjoy working under pressure, want to engage with service improvements and be willing to support other members of the team.

Experience of working in a hospital environment is essential, ideally in a similar clerical role. Knowledge of the Millennium computer system would be an advantage however full training will be given.

Main duties of the job

  • To arrange appointments for endoscopy patients in a timely and efficient manner
  • To answer telephone enquiries from patients, GPs, clinicians and other members of staff and take action or escalate to senior co-ordinator.
  • To update patient details and to register, admit and discharge patients from their endoscopy procedures.
  • Using Trust systems, ie Millennium to put patients on for endoscopy procedures. The post holder will make appointment bookings based on the different patient pathways, ie 2 week waits, 6 week waits and surveillance.
  • Liaise with Endoscopy nurses, clinicians and GPs to provide a good quality patient service.
  • Ensure patient records are available for endoscopy appointments.
  • Process referral letters and requests
  • To maintain strict confidentiality at all times in relation to any information which may be in connection with patients attending for appointments.
  • To provide clerical cover across the Directorate as required
  • To be flexible to the needs of the Trust and undertake any appropriate administrative Duties
  • To maintain a tidy office area.
