Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Dental Technician to join our Dental Laboratory team, in the capacity of Advanced Dental and Digital OMFS Technician in the Oral Surgery/Orthodontic department.

Working closely with clinical colleagues, the post holder's primary responsibility will be the provision and daily management of the digital Oral and Maxillofacial and Orthodontic technical service.

This work will be carried out to prescriptions from clinicians within the Oral & Facial and Orthodontic Department at the Royal United Hospital (Bath).

Additionally, providing associated Dental Laboratory support when required. Be able to construct a full range of highly complex custom made removable Orthodontic appliances, carried out to prescriptions from clinicians within the respective Oral & Maxillofacial and Orthodontic departments.

The post-holder, while providing both a clinical and technical service, will specialise in digital Orthodontics, 3D Orthognathic planning and the application of digital technology in the management of Maxillofacial trauma.

You will also provide general support to the Dental Laboratory Manager, ensuring in particular that services are delivered effectively in the interests of patient care.

Main duties of the job

The Oral Surgery department is staffed by a friendly and professional team and the Laboratory team consists of 2 Dental Technicians.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered with the General Dental Council.
  • Degree/equivalent BTEC + experience in Dental Technology

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience in appliance design and construction
  • Understanding of health and safety policies/cross Infection Policies
  • Experienced in highly complex appliance design and construction in both a physical and digital capacity
  • Experienced in Oral Surgery and OMFS Laboratory Techniques
