An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part time Consultant in Orthodontics (2.5 PAs) to join the existing OMFS and Orthodontics service based at the Royal United Hospitals, Bath. This position is to support and reinforce the existing team of consultants.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide a full range of Orthodontic care as part of an established multidisciplinary team.
The main duties of the post involve undertaking outpatient clinics for new and follow-up patients with supervision of junior staff as appropriate as well as orthodontic treatment of complex malocclusions in collaboration with other specialities such as Maxillofacial, Oral Surgery and Restorative Dentistry The department is fully supported by a maxillofacial laboratory with access to digital planning software and 3D printing technology.
In this role you will provide, to a high standard, the full range of specialist diagnosis, treatment and care to patients who need orthodontic services. The post holder must demonstrate excellent attention to detail in all aspects of clinical and managerial work as well as being a strong clinical lead for trainees. Main duties of the job
The holder of this post will be a Consultant Orthodontist. All Consultants contribute to the general Orthodontic workload.
The post will be based at the RUH Bath. The holder will participate in audit and directorate meetings and undertake administrative duties as required by the Lead Clinician of OMFS & Orthodontics.
A commitment to maintain professional expertise by attendance at meetings and courses is expected, and completion of diaries for CPD is essential. It is also essential that you have an annual appraisal.
Attendance at, and organisation of, meetings is mandatory (MDT, departmental and governance).

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full registration with the General Dental Council (GDC)
- BDS or equivalent and ISFE in Orthodontics or within six months of achieving ISFE at the time of interview
- Registered with the General Dental Council in Orthodontics
Desirable criteria
- Post Graduate Dental degree (eg: DDS, MRes, MSc)
- Further qualification in teaching or education role
- Educational Supervisor training (if not completed pre interview a formal commitment to completion on commencement of post will be required)
Clinical Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of SAC approved specialist training in orthodontic to consultant level or equivalent
- Evidence of 2 year Post CSST or equivalent training
- Ability to make decisions at consultant level
Desirable criteria
- Ability to develop specialty interest to complement the department.
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
