We at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join the team in a state of the art pharmacy department. 

The successful candidate will join the existing pool of 13 rotational Band 6 pharmacists at the Trust. You will be rotating through a wide range of clinical specialties including a placement with Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership Trust (AWP). You will also gain experience in medicines information, aseptics, haematology, oncology, operational areas and quality improvement methodologies, working alongside a wide variety of clinical and technical staff.

The Trust provides acute treatment and care for a catchment population of around 500,000 people in Bath, and the surrounding towns and villages in North East Somerset and West Wiltshire. Main duties of the job

To work in all sections of the pharmacy department, as well as with partner
organisations on a rotational basis under the management of the section
manager and be fully trained in these areas by the section manager.

These areas include trust operational teams, mental health services, in-patients, dispensary, homecare services, medicines information, aseptic department and chemotherapy satellite unit.

 To clinically assess patients' medication charts on a daily basis on a designated ward, obtain accurate medication histories, assess discharge prescriptions and participate in discharge planning for all patients on designated ward.

To clinically assess and dispense prescriptions in all sections of the department including TPN, Chemotherapy, and radiopharmaceuticals according to standard operating procedures and policies.

To provide a final check on prescriptions dispensed by pharmacy technicians, assistants and pharmacy students.To participate in the on-call, evening, weekend and bank holiday rotas.

To actively participate in mandatory Continuing Personal Development (CPD) Programme as required by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) 

To participate in continuing education through appropriate training schemes, clinical diploma where appropriate and self-directed learning, in line with clinical governance requirements.

To assist in providing cover for the trust’s external units as well as units that the service covers under a service level agreement.
