At AWP Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) we are keen to recruit a dynamic and experienced Senior Systemic Psychotherapist for our Lead Role in the Eating Disorders service. You will be working in the CAMHS Eating Disorder Service, with a range of stakeholders in a fast paced and changing environment.

You will work closely with our participation leads to ensure we keep the voice of young people, parents are carers at the heart of all that we do. 

The post holder will provide inclusive, compassionate and effective leadership to the Eating Disorder service by setting a clear vision and direction. You will be responsible for the strategic and operation delivery of the community Eating Disorder team and the home Intensive Treatment Team.

Main duties of the job

  •  Provide inclusive, compassionate and effective leadership of the ED service by setting clear vision and direction
  •  To lead an entirely autonomous and systemic area of responsibility, Specialist Eating Disorder CAMHS pathway for young people with Eating Disorders often alongside severe and complex mental health difficulties
  • To ensure the service offers a highly specialist and evidence based triage, assessment and treatment for young people with an eating disorder across a range of complex systems and partner agencies  
  • To offer an entirely autonomous highly specialist assessments and treatment of young people in the community and alongside local adolescent unit
  • To provide an advanced and specialist treatment role in the NICE recommended interventions for under 18’s with an Eating Disorder
  • To undertake management/ leadership tasks as delegated by the manager including caseload, supervision, appraisals and service development
  • To undertake relevant research, teaching and lecturing in the specialist area of eating disorders
  • To support service development, including the use of clinical audit
  • To understand and analyse complex data for eating disorders alongside key performance indicators

·  To ensure an autonomous highly specialist clinical assessment and treatment service across AWP CAMHS

·   Overseeing flow of referrals and that young people are seen safely and in accordance with NHSE and Trust guidance

·    To ensure that specialist eating disorder supervision and consultancy is provided to the service/LDU staff with regard to eating disorder assessment and formulation, and therapy interventions

·  To participate and ensure clinical supervision and caseload supervision arrangements are provided by the CAMHS Eating Disorder service

·  To provide an advanced and specialist treatment role in the service/LDU as agreed with the Head of ops CAMHS

·       To carry out specialist assessments as requested

·       To undertake investigations as appropriate to the service

·     To work closely with acute ward staff and ensure pathways of care for the physical and psychological well-being of the young person are effectively implemented

·     Due to the seniority of this post the post holder will be required to participate in  on-call arrangements, after suitable training

·       To offer caseload supervision to Senior Systemic Family Therapy staff as delegated by manager

·       To carry out appraisals with eating disorder staff as delegated by the manager

·   To carry out operational/management tasks as delegated by the Head of Profession and Head of ops e.g. attending meetings to represent the service

· To undertake data analysis and use data to inform service requirements

Person specification

Education and Qualification

Essential criteria
  • • MSc Systemic Therapy
  • • Registered by the UKCP
  • • AFT Registered supervisor
  • • Relevant Specialist training
Desirable criteria
  • CYP-IAPT Supervisor Training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Substantial post qualification experience
  • • Experience of Lecturing/Teaching/Training FBT/ Systemic therapists and other professions
  • • Supervision experience with Trainee FBT and MSc Systemic students
  • • Supervision experience with other professions
  • • Care Co-ordination or equivalent role
  • • R&D relevant to role
  • • Clinical audit/Quality improvement work relevant to role
  • • Service development/project leadership/ clinical leadership
  • • Evidence based therapeutic interventions with client group
Desirable criteria
  • Line Management of staff

Specialised Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • • Extensive knowledge of specialist therapeutic interventions with Eating Disorders in young people
  • • Specialist assessment and formulation skills for eating Disorders
  • • Expert in analysis and differential formulation of highly complex case information
  • • Specialist training in clinical supervision
  • • Expert knowledge of NICE recommended intervention for Eating Disorders
Desirable criteria
  • • Ability to use computer spreadsheets for data analysis
  • • Ability to use computer software to perform specialist / advanced data analysis of clinical data
