HMP Eastwood Park is female prison housing up to 440 women who are both sentenced and remanded. The healthcare service is formed through a consortium of agencies, AWP works alongside the main contractor Practice Plus Group.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the substance misuse psychosocial team you will have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced multi-disciplinary team, that is supportive and motivated to deliver outstanding care. We strive to use the expertise and resources within our team, organisation, and partnerships, to deliver high quality services that are safe and focused on people's recovery. All our staff are pivotal in the quality of care we provide and we are committed to enabling them to develop both professional and personally.

Successful candidates will have previously completed, or be committed to completing, the care certificate, or equivalent qualification.

Applicants will be required to work 30 hours a week, primarily Monday to Friday, with the additions of some Saturday shifts.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain prison security clearance in addition to DBS and reference checks.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Provide a defined drug and alcohol service to an allocated caseload of service users, having responsibility for the assessment of needs, the planning and implementation of treatment and care to meet those needs as agreed in line with personal recovery goals.

Liaise as appropriate with other members of the multidisciplinary team and other agencies involved in the care of individual service users.

The role will also require undertaking and delivering defined activities and interventions for a caseload of identified service users, in accordance with the agreed personal recovery plan. This maybe either on a one to one basis, or as part of a group activity.

Essential criteria
  • Has experience of working in substance misuse
  • Has experience of working in criminal justice
Desirable criteria
  • Has experience of working with service users with a variety of co-existing difficulties.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate training around recovery orientated interventions.
Desirable criteria
  • Relevent qualification in the field of health and social care.

Caseload Management

Essential criteria
  • Able to form and sustain professional and therapeutic relationships with service users.
  • Has a good undertsanding of managing risk and is able to complete a comprehensive risk assessment.
  • Has experience of care planning and demonstrates an understanding of the importance of co-production and person centred care.
Desirable criteria
  • Is able to demonstrate using supervision and/or reflective practice to inform case management.

IT

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates they are IT literate.
Desirable criteria
  • Has previous experience of using a healthcare or criminal justice related user interfaces.
