Job overview

South Gloucestershire ROSE, are a small team based at the Kingswood Civic centre who provide a service to those who have an enduring and often chronic mental health disorder. Working closely with our two recovery teams, the ROSE team are responsible for engaging, motivating and empowering service users to engage in their recovery, with a view of progressing towards wellness.

The role of the band 7 senior practitioner is a dynamic role, involving managing a small caseload while providing supervision, guidance and leadership to the other key workers in the team. You will be provided with support from the service line management team as well as support from other teams within the South Gloucestershire Locality. The role lends itself to dynamic and creative solutions. It gives space to a practitioner to hone their skills in both managing a complex caseload, team resolution, and providing bespoke interventions individuals and carers alike.

Main duties of the job

This role will give you the opportunity to develop your leadership and quality improvement skills.

One of the main roles of this position would be to create and maintain flow through the ROSE team back to Recovery Teams so that Service Users can continue with their Recovery journey. 

You will be required to carry out assessments, and develop existing skills in specialist assessment and interventions.

You will need to be proactive, a good problem solver, have excellent clinical standards and experience in supervising members of the clinical team.

You will demonstrate an ability to develop therapeutic relationships with people in a range of challenging situations and demonstrate sound positive risk taking and clinical reasoning skills.

You will need excellent communication skills and be flexible and resourceful in your approach. We are looking to you to help develop our evidence based clinical pathways.

You will need to demonstrate your ability and commitment to team working and a genuine interest in achieving wellbeing and positive health outcomes for individuals with severe and enduring mental health problems.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 Key Local Information : 

The ROSE Team  are based at Kingswood Civic Centre. 

We are a secondary service working with service users working with adults.  Referrals come from the Recovery Teams, but can also come from teams within the locality. 

Although the small team consists of two other key workers there will be access to the  Multi-Disciplinary team of both Recovery Teams in South Gloucestershire. This  includes Community Psychiatric Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Consultant Psychiatrists and Specialty Doctors, Recovery support workers,  Mental Health and Well-being Practitioner's, amongst others.

The role will involve working closely with Team Managers from Therapies and CMHT, and the Senior Practitioners, to provide clinical leadership. The role will involve service development; supporting the team to meet the challenges of the Community Mental Health Framework, and planned changes to ways of working, including “Your Team Your Conversation Your Plan” which will be replacing the Care Programme Approach in 2024. The clinical role will also involve carrying out complex assessments and carrying a small caseload. There will also be some delegated management responsibilities to support the Team Managers.

Registration in appropriate discipline

Essential criteria
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Work qualification, or Allied Health qualification
  • Current registration
  • Substantial post registration experience undertaking assessments and delivering therapeutic interventions
  • Significant experience in complex assessments, risk management, and care planning
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of clinical leadership
  • Relevant post - registration qualifications

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
