Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Dietitian to join the Nutrition and Dietetic service in AWP.  This role will be based with the MDT at the Victoria Centre in Swindon with travel to Devizes to provide cover for the inpatient ward on the Green Lane Hospital site.

We are excited to be recruiting to a Band 6 Mental Health Dietitian in BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire area (BSW). You will have the opportunity to work with Adults of Working Age (AOWA) with depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar, Older Adults with Dementia.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and innovative Dietitian with excellent communication skills and an interest in mental health.

Working with across the  inpatient setting  you will have the opportunity to further develop your skills in a variety of areas including, nutrition support, diabetes, weight management and behavioural change.

You will work alongside our highly experienced multidisciplinary team, whilst also receiving support from the Nutrition and Dietetics team based at the hospital and our trust wide highly specialist Dietitians.

Ideally you will have a minimum of 12 months experience as a Dietitian in an acute setting.

Main duties of the job

To assist in providing, maintaining and developing a clinical dietetic service within  AWP.

To plan, justify and be responsible for the delivery of specialised dietary advice to service users and their families / carers.

To plan, manage and prioritise own clinical workload and to ensure maximum efficiency in all areas.

To plan, coordinate and deliver nutrition / dietetic training for professional and support staff.

To participate in dietetic student training.

Person specification

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Degree or post graduate diploma in Dietetics
  • Significant demonstrable post registration experience as a Band 5 Dietitian
  • An understanding of MDT working
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Able to show initiative within scope of practice and evidence-based practice
  • HCPC registered Dietitian
  • Clinical experience in the following areas: Malnutrition, Diabetes, Weight Management
  • Able to manage a clinical caseload using time management and prioritisation skills
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Understanding of Mental Health in dietetics
  • Flexible and able to adapt to change
  • Ability to teach and train others in specialist area
  • Experience in Mental Health
  • Behaviour Change Training Part 1 (motivational interviewing)
  • Current UK driving licence holder and access to own transport
