Job overview
A Vacancy has arisen for a Radiography Assistant in the X-ray Department at Weston General Hospital for a 7.5 hour contact.
The successful applicant will be required to work 7.5 hours per week in a busy but rewarding environment. The department works 24/7 where weekend working will be required as part of this role.
The hours will be worked between 8am-8pm.
A wide range of examinations are undertaken in the department, from routine X-ray to ultrasound, CT and MRI scans. Over 100, 000 examinations are performed each year. The radiography assistant performs an essential role in assisting radiographers and Radiologists before, during and after the X-ray procedure. The role is often challenging but rewarding and since patient care is at the heart of the role excellent communication and people skills are very important.

Main duties of the job
- The Radiographer Assistant is a member of the direct care team who supports practitioners to meet patient needs. The Radiographic Assistant (RA) is responsible for providing care to patients as delegated by the Radiographers/Radiologists/Sonographers as directed by the appropriate team leader.
- A Radiographic Assistant will be expected to undertake a range of duties with direct supervision and will be required to communicate with the team.
- The Radiographic Assistant will be competent to provide compassionate care to agreed quality standards.
- The Radiographic Assistant will continue to progress through the development of further skills, knowledge and competencies.
