Job overview
To work within the Learning Disabilities Day Service.
To work under the direction of senior staff and to ensure each service user is supported in accordance with their individual care and support plans and agreed activities.
3 x 30 hour (0.8WTE) posts available.
Main duties of the job
- MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPPORT TOWARDS SERVICE USERS
1. To actively participate in day services activity sessions.
2. To participate in delivery of personalised care, including activities and meeting personal hygiene and nutritional needs of the service users under the direction of senior staff.
Several of our service users are wheelchair users and there is a requirement to use hoists and push wheelchairs.
3. To ensure the service users personal information is always treated with the strictest of confidence. Any requests to disclose information must be relayed to senior staff.
4. Where required use basic Makaton with service users.
5. To escort service users on site when required.
6. If required participate in outings under the supervision of senior staff.
7. To assist in promoting appropriate friendships, with other service users.
8. To participate in service users’ reviews.
9. Assist in promoting a healthy lifestyle and respecting the service user’s choices and beliefs, promoting dignity, respect and privacy where necessary.
10. To respect and assist in maintaining the personal property of service users brought into the department, following Trust polices and procedures.
11. To protect all individuals from any form of abuse, either physical, psychological, financial, sexual or any instance of intimidation. Any suspected abuse to be brought to the attention of the Trust.

Essential criteria
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
Desirable criteria
- GCSE’s or equivalent in English and Maths
- NVQ Level 2 in a care related subject or equivalent
Applicant requirements
