Job overview

The appointment is to commence as soon as possible for a fixed term period of 12 months in the first instance and thereafter may be subject to annual review to a maximum of 2 years. There are 4 posts available.

The post does not award a National Training Number.  As this post is not recognised as a ‘training post’, full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to ST5 level/appropriate to an individual holding a Certificate of Completion of Training.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise
  • Basic Medical Degree
  • MRCP or equivalent

Clinical Experience

Essential criteria
  • Adequate post registration training in general medicine and gastroenterology
  • ST5 Level+ (or equivalent) – experience of independent practice in gastroscopy
  • Out-patient clinical experience Independent practice in either or both diagnostic upper and lower GI endoscopy

Research

Essential criteria
  • Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
Desirable criteria
  • Publications in Peer reviewed journals

Continuous Professional Development

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
Desirable criteria
  • Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio

Management and Administration

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of ability to work with management and previous experience of management groups
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of current issues in NHS

Clinical Governance and Audit

Essential criteria
  • Experience in performing clinical audit
Desirable criteria
  • Completion and publication of a substantive audit project or service improvement project

Personal Attributes

Essential criteria
