Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within Radiology Senior Management Team on a fixed term basis for 12 months in first instance for 15 hours a week (Thursday or Friday).  This post, depending on funding could become permanent in the future. The successful candidate will be directly responsible to the Head of Medical Imaging and work closely with all members of the RSMT including the Business Manager, modality leads, business manager and consultant radiologists. 

Having in depth knowledge of radiology the successful candidate must to be forward thinking, focused on developing and driving radiology forward  whilst ensuring the service remains centred around the patient.  

Be operationally responsible for aspects of Radiology Department planning, ensuring that there are robust, valid systems in place to provide real time monitoring and measurement of the Department’s non-clinical performance. 

To support the delivery of an efficient and effective imaging service within the finite resources available.

Main duties of the job

Accountable to the Head of Radiology Services for the strategic development and operational management of the Radiology Department’s non-clinical performance and business agenda

Responsible for the operational management of the Radiology Department’s Administration services and teams.

Be managerially responsible for the production and communication of complex Radiology data within the Department/Care Group/Trust, other healthcare providers and organisations.

Responsible for non-clinical performance monitoring and management, ensuring the development of data systems and frameworks within the Radiology Department support the active monitoring and achievement of key national and local objectives.

Operationally responsible for ensuring the validity and rigor of all Radiology data.

  • • Experience of managing and leading a service, department or team in a health setting
  • • Staff management experience
  • • Experience of leading and managing individuals/teams to achieve objectives
  • • Advanced computer skills in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Graphical representation of data
Desirable criteria
  • • Strong Health Informatics background
