Job overview

The Doncaster and Bassetlaw Children’s Therapy Service is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist.  This exciting role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to provide specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment to the children and young people of Doncaster and Bassetlaw within inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The successful applicant will be responsible for a musculoskeletal outpatients caseload and a neurodevelopmental community caseload.  The team also provide intervention to orthopaedic and respiratory inpatients when required.

We are looking for a  motivated and dedicated physiotherapist to join our established and supportive therapy team. A comprehensive supervision and training package is in place and opportunities for further development are available. There is also the potential  to participate in  research projects. 

We will consider a Band 5-6 development role. Flexible working can be discussed.

Main duties of the job

  • To be a specialist clinician within their children's physiotherapy.
  • The prime function of the role is to provide clinical expertise in supporting the delivery of high standards of therapeutic care for patients within their care / speciality.
  • To manage own caseload and to provide a high standard of assessment, management, treatment and advice to meet the needs of patients.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues in health, social care, local authority and other agencies to meet the needs of patients.
  • To ensure the efficient and effective use of resources available within the team.
  • To work with other members of the team in the development of the service.
  • To ensure Clinical Governance is integral to service delivery within the specialty area.
  • To represent the Therapy Team and contribute to the development of the wider Therapy service within Clinical Therapies.
  • To participate in a Physiotherapy Cardio-Respiratory On-Call Service or agreed alternative 7 Day Service.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 18 months post graduate experience
  • Experience of networking within physiotherapy and in the wider Health & Social Care community
  • Clinical education and development of physiotherapy staff and other members of the MDT
  • Experience in clinical audit, research and effectiveness
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in paediatric physiotherapy

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Portfolio evidence of reflective practice, relevant experience and CPD
  • IT skills
  • Evidence of post graduate training in specialist area
  • Knowledge of current issues affecting NHS e.g. NSF’s, Modernisation Agenda
Desirable criteria
  • Student Accreditation Course
  • Membership of CSP
