Job overview

The Trust requires a highly motivated and driven individual to join our highly experienced and friendly Clinical Coding Team.  The purpose of the role is to increase the depth and quality of the clinically coded data using local and national benchmarking, auditing, appraising clinical systems, and working closely with colleagues and senior clinicians within the Digital Transformation Team and the wider Trust, to improve clinical documentation, as the Trust begins its journey of procuring and implementing an electronic patient record.
Clinically coded data is fundamental in helping the Trust deliver against its overall vision to “deliver safe, exceptional, person-centred care”. The income of the Trust is reliant on accurate and timely coded data.  This information is also used for resource management, clinical research, clinical audit, and healthcare contracting, and service provision both locally and nationally.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills with a real passion for clinical coding. You must be willing to undertake training to become an Approved Clinical Coding Auditor.

The ability to extract, analyse and model data from Trust systems and nationally available benchmarking data and present in a clear and meaningful format using Microsoft products, in particular Excel is essential to monitor and drive improvements in the Team’s compliance in applying Local and National Coding rules, standards, and conventions to ensure the data is accurate, complete and of the highest quality.

The post holder is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of best practice systems and processes to ensure timely and the highest quality coded data across the Trust.

The post holder will plan and undertake audits, develop action plans and implement monitoring against targets for improving the depth and quality of the clinically coded data.

The post holder will undertake the role of System Manager for the 3M Medicode Encoder and other clinical coding data quality software.
