Job overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Digital Contract Manager to join the Digital Business Management team within the Digital Transformation department.

The team are in the supporting significant procurement exercises including Electronic Patient Record (EPR), Communication systems and Medical Imaging system where the Digital Contract Manager will be responsible for managing the contracts in line with best practice.

The team are responsible for the management of around 150 individual contracts which are proposed for consolidation over the next year to obtain best value for the services provided.

The successful candidate will have a high level of technical knowledge to be able to manage the digital contracts effectively and efficiently ensuring regular contract review meetings with suppliers, engaging with Trust key stakeholders such as the Information Asset Owner (IAO), system manager, technical team lead, clinical and administration leads to ensure the contract is delivering against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

There will be a range of opportunities to improve your skills within the Trust while engaging with a range of roles across DBTH. The role will involve close working relationships with the Trust procurement department, finance, project teams, technical teams and Digital Practitioner team.

Main duties of the job

The role will directly manage the Digital Contract and Buying team to ensure that digital secure and compliant procurement processes to obtain best value in the procurement of all digital goods and services to achieve the agreed Cost Improvement Programme (CIP).

The role will be varied and will involve communicating with the internal stakeholders, suppliers and always responding and acting in a professional manner. 

We are looking for an individual who can rise to the challenge of working in a busy friendly environment. The successful candidate will:

·       Educated to degree level in management or ICT subject or equivalent experience.

·       Must hold CIPS Level 4 active registration

  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 Office applications
  • Be able to prioritise and manage a varied workload
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have a keen eye for detail and maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Have knowledge of a wide range of digital technologies both software and hardware
  • Have knowledge of procurement rules and Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs)
  • Be able to demonstrate the Trust We Care Values and DBTH Way

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience of digital contract management.
  • Conversant with information management and technology.
  • Demonstrate solid achievement in their current role.
  • Ability to review and contribute to the writing of contracts.
  • Ability to negotiate income and expenditure digital contracts to the benefit of the Trust.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of ICT procurement within the NHS.
  • Experience of carrying out procurements from conception to evaluation and implementation.

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level in management or ICT subject or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Must hold CIPS Level 4 or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Negotiation Training

  • Able to formulate long term plans in terms of supplier management / contract reviews.

  • Experience of Public Sector Frameworks and Find a Tender.
  • Ability to develop board reports and business cases to solve strategic issues.
