Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Receptionist/ Booking  Clerk, to join the Dermatology Reception & Admin Team at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. 

This is a part time post working for 18.75 hrs per week to support our existing 2 receptionists and ensure cover during our opening hours of  8am -6pm, you will be expected to provide cover during periods of leave, i.e sickness, long term absences.

The successful candidate, will be enthusiastic about challenges of a busy working and constantly changing environment, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and to achieve strict deadlines.

You will be a highly motivated individual, with the ability to motivate and influence others, suggest and implement ideas to improve service performance and efficiency and will have excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of a multi professional team, your main objectives will be to provide full reception duties on the Dermatology Reception, developing efficient and effective services, managing resources to achieve national and local quality and performance targets.

You will be responsible for working closely with the Consultants, Speciality Dr's, Speciality Nurses, Secretaries and Admin Team Leader, providing expertise in the proactive management of patient pathways.

You will be responsible for the day to day reception duties,  as well as supporting the running of clinics. This includes the clinic preparation duties, ensuring effective management of referrals and appointments, monitoring & answering  patient phone calls.

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 3 GCSE’s including English and Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience
  • OCR/RSA/NVQ Level II or completion of a Business Administration Level II Apprenticeship or demonstrate equivalent qualification in keyboard skills and typing or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL or equivalent qualification

Knowledgde & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience working in a clerical/administrative role
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word
  • Commitment to acquire & apply knowledge of RTT National and local waiting times rules
Desirable criteria
  • Previous hospital or NHS experience working in a clerical/administrative role
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of Trust Policies, including Hospital to Treatment Patient Access Policy
  • Knowledge and understanding of RTT National and local waiting time rules
