Gynaecology Cancer Assistant Practitioner/ Nursing Associate
Band 4
Job overview
We are looking for an exceptional individual to join the gynaecology cancer team.
Assisting the Clinical Nurse Specialist in your chosen speciality to implement Holistic Needs Assessments and care for patients affected by cancer from pre diagnosis to transition to palliative care. The post holder will be required to work with senior staff to support and ensure the patient and carer experience is central to every stage of their care pathway. Both teams offer clinical, social and emotional support utilising a holistic approach to each patient and their families.
Main duties of the job
Working in conjunction with the speciality cancer multi-disciplinary (MDT) team to ensure every newly diagnosed patient is offered the appropriate gold standard treatment adhering to both national and local policy.
Doncaster & Bassetlaw NHS Trust diagnoses many patients each year with gynaecology or colorectal cancer which is why it is imperative that we all work together to ensure each patient experiences a positive journey throughout.
Evidence identifies that early supportive care and continuity of care results in improved quality of life and possibly survival, and for this to be correctly targeted there needs to be early and regular assessments of needs. Each CNS team offers clinical, social and emotional support utilising a holistic approach to each patient and their families. We endeavour to meet each patient at diagnosis of cancer, and support them through treatments up to palliative care. We work closely with other specialist teams sharing knowledge and skills to ensure every patient is managed appropriately. We are passionate about our supportive role as we truly believe it makes a difference for our patients and their families.
