Alongside our system partners, DBTH is currently developing an ambitious programme to enable delivery of virtual ward capacity within the system. This will enable our patients to receive the acute care, remote monitoring and treatment they need in their own home.
To achieve that, the Trust is currently recruiting to new key positions, initially on a one year fixed-term basis but this could be extended or made permanent.
Main duties of the job
The Sister/Charge Nurse will, by example and facilitation, guide, assist and empower nursing staff in fulfilling their professional role using research-based practice. Support the Lead ACP in the day-to-day management of the Virtual Ward.
Professional
Maintain the highest standard of patient care at all times. Provide
leadership and support to all members of the team and ensure they are
conversant with the Trust’s policies.
Ensure that Protocols and Procedures are followed and supervise junior
staff doing the same.
Act as a clinical resource transferring appropriate skills to members of
the team.
Contribute to the annual audit review of all aspects of clinical
governance, disseminate the results and actively participate in the
achievement of its goals.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships to ensure
continuity of care/dissemination of information and promotion of ideas.
At all times respect patient confidentiality and in particular the
confidentiality of electronically stored personal/manual data in line with
the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
Management
Assess and implement any necessary actions to ensure the efficient
management of the ward as directed by the Lead ACP.
Organise and ensure the most cost effective use of resources including
the deployment and provision of staff with a defined budget.
Participate in the Trust’s complaints procedure and provide responses
in the absence of the Lead ACP.
