This is a fixed term post to cover a vacancy in the Specialty Registrar training program.

The Doncaster and Bassetlaw Department of Renal Medicine provides an integrated general nephrology and renal replacement service for the population of the Doncaster and Bassetlaw areas.  The purpose built, state of the art facility houses an inpatient ward (including high dependency area), outpatient area, haemodialysis unit and office accommodation.

This post would suit an enthusiastic junior doctor looking to develop and use their skills in renal medicine, including training in practical procedures (eg renal biopsy, temporary and tunnelled CVCs). The post-holder will contribute to out of hours care on a EWTD and New Deal compliant full shift rota.  They will be responsible for the continued delivery and further development of an already well-established service for patients living within the catchment area of the Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and surrounding areas and will be working under consultant supervision.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will undertake inpatient ward work, including invasive procedures appropriate to their level of experience, and regular nephrology outpatient clinics and will contribute to out of hours care in evenings and at weekends on a full shift rota basis.  There is no commitment to acute/general medicine in this post.  The post holder will support and supervise the Department’s Foundation trainees and students, and will be supported and supervised by the Consultant team.
